David Birnbaum & Yvonne Chen

David Birnbaum is currently vice president of Century 21 University, leading one of the world’s largest real estate company’s learning and development department. He started his career as a research scientist at AT&T Bell Laboratories artificial intelligence department. His last position at AT&T was head of their global online learning department. In 2006, he joined Coldwell Banker Commercial real estate where he created Commercial University, and many award-winning training programs focused on growth and productivity. In 2009, Birnbaum assumed the vice president of Coldwell Banker’s University for 85,000 residential brokers and agents as well.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from City University of New York and a master’s degree in artificial intelligence from New York University’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Birnbaum is also a published creative writer, including an essay in The New York Times Magazine and in one of the most widely used writing-101 textbooks in U.S. universities that also include Maya Angelou and Jonathan Swift.

Birnbaum has many distinguished achievements during his career. In Training Magazine’s annual ranking, he led Century 21 to a ranking of No. 30 in 2015. Previously at Coldwell Banker, he led them to a rank of No. 8 in 2014, No. 3 ranking in 2013 and No. 9 in 2012, far exceeding any other real estate brands those three years.

Yvonne Chen brings 10-plus years of product and marketing experience to Udemy for Business. She cares deeply about spurring online learning and development for an organization’s most important asset — its employees. Previously, Chen led product marketing and strategy for Localytics, a leading mobile app marketing and analytics software company based in Boston. Prior to Localytics, Chen worked at Facebook in a number of roles, including leading training and development and product marketing for Facebook’s ads and business products. Before that, Chen worked in operations roles at Google and managed a business call center for AT&T as a sales coach manager.

Chen holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of California Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
